Chaos

A chaotic, intimate exploration of the inner world of women. The performance immerses the audience in a raw portrayal of three immigrant women. Migration is a complex psychological journey, and when combined with loss, death, toxic relationships, and depression, life can spiral into chaos.

The story follows Anna, a teacher grieving her mother; Diana, a psychotherapist trapped in toxic relationships; and Nina, a journalist struggling with alcohol addiction and depression after a failed marriage and custody battle.

Despite its dramatic content, the production unfolds as a musical phantasmagoria inspired by Brecht’s epic theatre, with surreal video elements reminiscent of David Lynch. The style blends Stanislavski’s emotional depth, Grotowski’s physical intensity, and Brecht’s theatricality into a bold, unconventional form.

Music plays a central role, including a karaoke bar called “Hope.” The stage action reflects the heroines’ inner worlds in heightened forms, with songs expressing pain through music, while black-and-white video contrasts with reality.

The performance consists of five chapters: CONTROL, HORNY, ANGER, OFFENCE, SILENCE. The actresses also appear in the video segments.

Written by the director, the play is performed by three Ukrainian actresses, joined by students of the United  Ukrainian Theatre as “agents of chaos.”
