Alesia Andrushevska

Ensemble lead, actress and drama teacher

Alesia Andrushevska is a Ukrainian theatre and film actress, theatre maker, voice actress, choreographer, drama teacher and a founding member of the United Ukrainian Theatre (UUTheatre) in Amsterdam. A member of the National Union of Theatre Workers of Ukraine, she has built a versatile career across stage and screen, combining psychological depth with a strong presence that resonates in both intimate and large-scale productions.

Trained and established in Ukraine, Alesia has performed in a wide range of plays, from contemporary Ukrainian drama to international classics. Since relocating to the Netherlands after the Russian invasion of 2022, she has become a key voice in presenting Ukrainian theatre to European audiences.

Before moving to the Netherlands, Alesia worked for 19 years at the Zaporizhzhia State Laboratory Theatre VIE, where she played over 50 different characters in different types of performances, from classical play to modern experimental projects.

In Amsterdam, Alesia has collaborated with Frascati Producties, De Balie and De Warme Winkel on the project “Casting”. She performed in Take the Rubbish Out, Sasha (2023), a magical-realist play by Natal’ya Vorozhbit directed by Yasha Gudzenko, and in Women in Troy, as told by our mothers (2022) with Dood Paard—a work blending classical myth with reflections on contemporary war and memory.

She also voiced the Ukrainian audio guide for a temporary exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

Together with her UUTheatre colleagues, she took part in Endless February, a series of staged readings of new Ukrainian plays written during the war, performed by both Ukrainian and Dutch actors. In 2025, she starred in Chaos, UUTheatre’s original production exploring the inner lives of three women under conditions of constant stress and displacement.

Her work is marked by a commitment to telling Ukrainian stories in ways that speak universally—bridging cultures while preserving the authenticity of lived experience.

As part of United Ukrainian Theatre, Alesia continues to develop performances that connect Ukrainian theatre traditions with new European audiences, ensuring that Ukrainian voices remain visible and heard in the international cultural conversation.
